# Preview and send

## Why this matters

The preview is your last check before messages reach real phones and cost money. It shows exactly what each person will receive, which rows can't be sent and the total price.

## Before you start

**Create Preview** is enabled only when:

- a **Mobile number field:** is chosen,
- the message isn't empty,
- the scheduled date is valid, if you chose **Later**, and
- a valid **Replies:** option is chosen.

## Steps

1. Click **Create Preview**.
2. Check the message cards. Each shows **to**, **time**, **size** in characters and parts, and a status: "Ok", or the reason the message can't be sent. Cards are shown 20 to a page.
3. Check the **Send** summary:
   - **Total messages:** the number of parts and messages.
   - **Total price:** the net price plus tax.
   - **Rejected messages:** how many rows can't be sent.
4. If any message has more than one part, tick "I accept some or all messages are large and will cost extra".
5. Click **Send messages**. Click **Cancel** instead to go back and change the message.
6. Wait while ExcelSend submits the job. When "Job #N has been queued" appears, note the job number and click **Ok**.

If you ticked **Add report fields to spreadsheet**, ExcelSend adds the [report columns](/docs/replies-and-reports/report-columns/) and writes the job reference into each sent row. The confirmation also links to the job in the ExcelSend portal.

## Common problems

**"Balance Too Low"**
Your prepaid balance doesn't cover this send. Click **Fund your account here** to top up in the ExcelSend portal, then click **Refresh** in the pane.

**"Excluded Rows"**
Rows that already have a job reference in `exs_jobReference` aren't sent again. See [Prepare your spreadsheet](/docs/sending/prepare-your-spreadsheet/).

**Some rows show as rejected**
The card's status shows the reason. Common causes are an invalid mobile number and a number on your stop list. See [Status and error codes](/docs/reference/sms-status-codes/).

**"Could not submit messages - still have internet?"**
The add-in couldn't reach ExcelSend. Check your connection and click **Send messages** again.

**Send messages stays disabled**
If some messages are large, you need to tick the large messages box. If your balance is too low, top up first.
